Summer Fruits

I missed one day! My zuchinni got away from me and now they are a foot long. What do I do with them? I like them when they are young and tender, but being a foot long doesn't do much for me. Gotta go fix dinner now.

What Did We Do Today?

We put in a concrete ditch. I know most of you "city folk" don't understand the life of irrigating; however, I have gotten first-hand experience at this wonderful skill this summer. That's one of the jobs on the farm when you aren't employed in town. (Unless you are Ron, and then you get to do both no matter what.) He's like a kid with a new toy. You see, when we have irrigation water come in, it really comes in. There is no faucet to turn it off. You have millions (well, maybe thousands) of gallons of water coming down that ditch at once and it has to go somewhere. So, in the past, we have pulled our own ditches and irrigated out of them. (Notice I say "We" and really mean "Ron".) Well today, we had concrete ditches put in to help with the irrigating. It's supposed to be a nicer way to irrigate. I haven't gotten my lesson in how they work yet, but I'm sure I will....by the way.....I'm still looking for a job in town too!

Papa Ron without a mustache?

I know.....can you believe it! He did this while I was on my trip visiting my children. I don't think I will leave him by himself again. Everyone is telling him how YOUNG he looks.....brother! Do you think he looks like Papa Ron? Okay, let's take a vote.....should he leave it or grow it back? The one advantage is his mustache hairs don't get stuck in the soda pop can....you decide.

Our Newest Addition!

Born on Mother's Day 2008, Spashin' Rose decided to make her appearance. Sis delivered this beautiful little filly without much help from Farmer Ron. She is 3 months old and learning very quickly. She is a sweetheart for a baby filly and of course, Ron's pride and joy. She will be on the race track in 2 short years. We are currently taking bets for her racing career. Any takers?

Can You Find The Hummingbird?

This morning while out in my garden, I (photo) shot this friendly little creature. Can you find him?

The Trip Home....

Upon returning home, I found that we had 6 inches of rain. All year we have waited for this precious event. Ron was tasked with watering my garden and he got out of it! He did have to pick the squash and tomatoes. I might also add, this is our view of the Front Range from my deck!

Who's Toes Are Those.....

My daughter informed me that I needed a pedicure. I took her advice and decided to treat myself this week. After all, when one is not working, you can take time for yourself 24 hours a day. Can you guess who's toes are who's? No cheating on the color of the skin tone either......

Showering Events

After all the food and fun, we (the gals) gathered to shower Kimmy with gifts for the new baby boy, Niran. His due date is the later part of September. Kim and her two daughters (Stephanie and Nicole) were there along with Brandi and myself. Kim handmade flannel blankets with monkey designs on them since their theme is the jungle. They are really nice and Brandi requested one for her but just a little bit bigger. She never gives up. The handy Nana that I am gave Kimmy a practical "gift card to Target". Kimmy received lots of nice baby items.....of course, things they didn't have around when I had my children. So take a look at these photos.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon!

We enjoyed Sunday afternoon with a little food, fun and conversation: Steak and chicken kabobs, yummy jalapeno poppers (made by Nicole), pecan pie (made by Grandma Patsy/GG). After this filling event, we had a baby shower for my daughter-in-law, Kimmy. Check out the pictures in my next blog.

On the Road Again....

After 13 long hours of driving, I finally arrived at my son's home. Case is now 5 months old and growing really fast. He is now up to 12 lbs, 4 oz and 24.5 inches long. What a sweet baby! Eric and Katee just love this little guy. I can see why. He is so very good and smiles all the time.
